LANDINGS WILL REOPEN TUESDAY JUNE 24TH

  • LANDINGS WILL BE OPENING TUESDAY
  • SLOW NO WAKE REMAINS IN EFFECT AND NO SWIMMING UNTIL WATER TESTS CONFIRM SAFE LEVELS

Lake Is Clearing Fast

68 degree water temperature
8 ft visibility
water test results Thursday
  • NO SWIMMING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE-The sanitary district took water samples last week and the e.coli were from 90 to 100 plus parts per 100ml. Safe swimming is 30 to 60. The new test results will be in Thursday. The flooding causes farm yards and city waste water plants to over flow which results in the high readings.
  • The boat landings will be reopening this week and we will remain in 'SLOW NO WAKE' until the lake drops another ten inches.
  • Bluegills and Largemouth are on their beds in the lake right now. A lot of Smallmouth are spawned out. The fishing has been good to very good for the few fishermen out there. Night crawlers and leeches have been producing great action.

Lake Opens To ''SLOW NO WAKE"

Public boat landings still closed
66 degree water
East end very stained
  • The record high water is starting to recede. If you have a boat on the lake, you may use the lake at 'slow no wake'! Use common sense and don't abuse the rulings! A lot of home owners still have water in their yards.
  • A lot of branches and pier sections are floating on the lake.
  • Fishing seems to be better in the water to the west of town. This could change as the east end clears up.

6''+ of Rain and Cottonwood Seeds

62 degree water
3-5 ft of visibility
carp starting to spawn
  • Bluegills are starting to spawn on the backwaters and move shallow on the main lake. Red worms have been the bait of choice with waxies a close second. Crappies are starting to spawn on the pier posts and boat slips in the bay and east end. A jig and twister or a small minnow work for the paper mouths.
  • Largemouth are spawning in the canals, millpond, and bay. If you fish these spawners an immediate release will insure a successful hatch.
  • Smallmouth will start a to spawn this week. Smallies spawn on the lake and 'catch and release' should be practiced.
  • Walleyes are showing up on the east end especially when the wind is blowing in. Leeches and crawlers have started to work. As the weeds come up next week we should fish a little deeper, 8'-12'.
  • Northerns have been very aggressive with the large year class from 2yrs ago. These 20'' fish are the result of a good spawn on the east side of the inlet due to all the vegetation. We are going to have a great pike fishery in the next couple years so release these fish as carefully as possible.
  • Lake Trout have been biting on minnows in 60-80 ft of water. The east end is has produced some nice catches of fish in the 22-24 inch range. Small Sutton spoons have worked well too.
  • Brown trout have been caught off the piers and in shallow water. The will start to move deeper as the water warms.
