Water Is Clearing Up And Action Is Getting Hot

69 degree surface water
7 Ft visibility and getting better
Leeches and crawlers are hot

  • Bluegills are just starting to come into the shallows of the main lake to spawn. Worms and waxworms have been the best bait to use under a small bobber. The inlet continues to produce nice fish east of the bridge.
  • White Bass have been spawning on the north shore of the lake this week. These fish are very nice size and are bunched up. Cast jigs and twister tails in the shallows from Derrings to Oakwood especially if the wind is blowing in.
  • Walleyes are showing up in the emerging weeds and numbers have been good. There is a lot of 13-15 inch fish showing up. Crawler harnesses and leeches have been the best choice of bait and 17 Ft of water and shallower the best depths.
  • Northern Pike have been very active on any minnow imitating bait. The fish haven't been running very large in size but are very aggressive.
  • Smallmouth are spawned out for the most part and very active in the shallow rocky areas. The next two weeks will be exactly what we wait all winter for so be ready. Small crankbaits and spinnerbaits will work well for artificial baits while leeches and crawlers are the top live bait choices. As the water clears up, top water action should be great.
  • Lake Trout action is picking up in 60-90 Ft of water. Sutton spoons and minnows have been working quite well.
