Clear Water And spooky Fish

15-20 Ft Visibility and increasing
68 degree surface water
Could be record visibility without any rain
  • Bluegills on the main lake are trying to spawn but are very spooky. This will change in the next week when they actually bed. Be good to the big spawners and don't over harvest. These fish will not be chunky due to their job of guarding the nest. Take a kid fishing and don't over harvest.
  • Crappies are starting to show up over the weeds and should start to be more aggressive in the next couple weeks. Small minnows or beetle spins are the best baits.
  • Smallmouth have been good to great but the clear water has made it a little more difficult. The top water action was awesome last night and should continue to be good with the clear water.
  • Walleyes will be a little easier to locate with the new weed growth. It appears to be a nice year class of 12-14 inch fish coming up so release these fish carefully.
  • Lake Trout action has picked up in the 60-90Ft range with sutton spoons and minnows. The fish have moved deeper earlier this year due to the early warm up.
