Fall Water Temperatures Are Here

55 degree surface water
22 Ft of visibility
  • Bluegills have been great some nights and hard to find the next. Dartford Bay has been very good on the calm nights and slow with the northeast wind. The Mill Pond continues to produce fish. Black ants or ice jigs tipped with waxworms is the best bait.
  • Smallmouth have finally started to move to the drop offs for the good fall bite. Try the Heidel Bar, Sandstone, Sugarloaf, and some of the rocky shorelines for good fall action. Please practice 'catch and release' when you find these fish in big numbers. Minnows will out fish any other bait at this time of year.
  • Muskies are hard to find in numbers on this lake but with the great visibility numerous fisherman have reported ''follows'' from some very large fish.
  • Northern Pike have moved to the weeds. Fish with chubs or large minnows and expect some very chunky fish.
  • Lake Trout is closed and these fish have moved shallow to spawn. You may not target these fish during a closed season but accidental catches are to be released immediately.
  • Brown Trout is still open and these fish could be cruising the shorelines. Any small minnow imitation should work well.

Fall Water Temps Are Here

58 degree surface and dropping
22 Ft of visibility

  • Bluegills have been very good and very bad depending on the wind and the night. Find a spot with good weeds and no wind and you will have action although you have to fight through all of the small largemouth bass that like the waxworm you present.
  • Smallmouth have started to move shallow and are very selective on the artificial bait but aggressive on the live bait. Find the rocks with the outstanding visibility and you will see the bass
  • Northern Pike seem to be anywhere you find weeds. These fish will follow anything flashy to the boat and spook. If you cast long enough you will most likely encounter one of Big Green's elusive Musky's.

Bluegills Are In The Weeds

62 degree surface water
45 Ft thermocline
20 Ft visibility
  • Bluegills are in the weeds and fisherman are having good luck with waxworms and ice jigs or black ants. The Mill pond has some nice fish showing up but you must fish close to the lily pads for the big gills. Any thick weed bed on the main lake will produce most nights although you should pay attention to wind direction and try to fish the calm areas.
  • Northern pike are starting to show up in the weeds. Numerous fisherman have had bluegills taken off their lines by the pike cruising the weeds. Use spinnerbaits, rapalas, or large chubs for some action over the weeds.
  • Smallmouth action has been spotty during the mid-day. Top water has been good during early and late periods of the day. When water temperatures hit 59 degrees the fall bite should be going and these fish will be active on the weed edges and drop offs. The Heidel Bar and Sandstone will be very good action spots in the next week.
  • Walleye are hard to pattern with the clear water, some fisherman have caught fish in 18-20 Ft of water on small chubs. The fishing pressure had not been very hard and locating these fish might be a night bite idea.
  • Lake Trout are CLOSED until the first Sat. of January.
