Opening Day

General inland fishing season opens saturday

  • Bluegills/Largemouth will be found in Beyers Cove, Dartford Bay and any of the channels.
  • Lake Trout continue to bite in 35-100 ft of water. Shallow water trout fisherman can jig or lindy rig these fish using live minnows.
  • Northern pike are still showing up in DNR/WFT nets. Some very nice females still in the spawn. These fish will be in the shallow water for another week.
  • Walleyes are in the middle of their spawning run. Fish rocky shorelines during low light or windy conditions, the water is still very clear.
  • Smallies have not left their winter habitat in any numbers. Fish the drop offs mid day using minnows and spoons.
  • White Bass are still in the 20-40 ft range and could start coming shallow with the weekend warm up.
